The LUX Hotel was built in 1958 specifically for the arrival of the 34th President of the United States, David Eisenhower. A secluded, picturesque corner of the city of Bratsk, the bay of the legendary Bratsk Sea, was chosen for the hotel. Due to the political events of those years, the visit of the distinguished guest did not take place, but the hotel opened and began to operate as an elite closed hotel, where only distinguished guests stayed - the top of the USSR party nomenclature, leaders and ambassadors of different countries, as well as stars of foreign and domestic pop. So, in different years, the guests of the hotel were N.S. Khrushchev, L.I. Brezhnev, B.N. Yeltsin, Jacques Chirac, Fidel Castro, Arravel Harriman, German Titov, Joseph Kobzon. In the 90s, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the hotel began to function as a standard mini-hotel, in 2013 it was closed for reconstruction, and in 2016 it opened its doors as a cozy chamber hotel with high service and comfort. After the reconstruction, the interior has completely changed, but it retains its historical appearance: the facade of the building with fine wooden carvings, narrow tall windows typical of buildings from the 60s and the taiga landscape surrounding the hotel.
