Main attractions
Kovrov Historical and Memorial Museum
One of the largest local history museums in the Vladimir region, founded in 1927. The main exhibition is located in the building of the former Zemstvo Council, built in 1889. There are more than 20 thousand exhibits: archaeological finds, household items, weapons, rare photographs and documents. Permanent exhibitions include "Kovrov Land since Ancient Times," "County Town," and "Forever in the Memory of the People."
Historical and Memorial Park "John the Warrior Necropolis"
This is the oldest cemetery in Kovrov, converted into a memorial park. The princes Kovrovs, city officials and the military are buried here. In the 1930s, the tombstones were used in construction, and in 2017 the park was restored. Today, guided tours take place here, QR codes with historical information are installed, and free Wi-Fi is available. Admission is free. Address: Pershutova St.
Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral
Kovrov's largest temple, built in 1884 at the expense of the townspeople, including merchants Dunaev and Somov. The red brick building is decorated with white stone, and the cathedral itself is called the "red church." Inside there is a Samara icon of the Mother of God with a piece of the robe of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is visited by couples who dream of having children. Admission is free. The Rabbit Museum
An unusual private museum in the library on Griboyedov Street, where more than 1,000 exhibits related to hares are collected: toys, books, postcards, figurines. It was founded in 1999 and is inspired by the coat of arms of Kovrov, which depicts two white hares. The museum hosts lectures, guided tours and workshops for children. Admission is free. Address: 117 Griboyedov St.. Opening hours: Mon–Thu from 10:00 to 19:00, Fri and Sun from 10:00 to 18:00, Sat — day off.
Kovrov Motorcycle and Sports Museum
The exhibition is located in the Kovrovets Ice Palace and is dedicated to the history of the local motorcycle industry. The museum features 28 Kovrovets and Voskhod motorcycles, as well as materials on the development of motorsport. Admission is free, inspection is available during the opening hours of the palace. Address: 1 Yelovaya Street. Open daily from 10:00 to 20:00.
Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ
The stone temple of the end of the XVIII century was built on the site of a wooden church founded according to legend by Prince Andrey Bogolyubsky. During the Soviet years, the building was used as a warehouse, and in the 1980s it was restored. Today it is an active church with regular services. Admission is free. Address: Pershutova St., 15. Opening hours: from 8:00 to 18:00 daily.
Church of the Feodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God
A unique temple built by railway workshop workers in honor of the rescue of Emperor Alexander II in 1866. It was called the "piglet temple" — literally assembled for a penny. It was closed in 1924 and returned to believers at the end of the 20th century. Address: 2a Lopatina Street. Open daily, admission is free.
The Museum of Nature and Ethnography "Elifanovsky trails"
is located in the estate of the Bolshakov merchants (built in 1855). The museum features zoological and ethnographic exhibitions, a collection of clay toys, wooden sculptures, and the Museum Courtyard historical and landscape area. Admission is 150 rubles, master classes are paid separately. Address: 6 Fedorova Street. Opening hours: Tue–Sat from 10:00 to 18:00, Sun and Mon — day off.
Memorial House-Museum of V. A. Degtyarev
It is located in the house where the famous gunsmith lived since 1924. The exhibition features authentic workshop furniture, personal belongings and weapons samples. It was founded in 1978. The ticket is 100 rubles, the tour starts from 250 rubles. Address: 6a Degtyareva Street. Opening hours: Tue–Sun from 10:00 to 17:00, Monday is a day off.
Fire department
The 1904 building is one of the symbols of the city. It is built of refractory bricks, equipped with a turret with an observation tower. This is an active depot, the entrance to the tower is limited, but the building can be viewed from the outside. Address: 61/46 Degtyareva St.. Free access to the territory, guided tours are not available.
Shopping malls
An architectural monument of the late 19th century. It used to house shops, a printing plant, and a factory. Now there are conference rooms, offices and a business incubator inside. The building has been renovated, and there is free access to public areas. Address: Pershutova St., 16. Opening hours are according to the schedule of the organizations located inside.
Alley of Heroes
Memorial complex on Victory Square, dedicated to the 14 Heroes of the Soviet Union, natives of Kovrov. Memorial steles, obelisks, an arch with a Star and busts of famous figures are installed on the alley. The territory is landscaped, there are benches and lighting. Admission is free around the clock.
