What to consider when choosing
For this collection, look for Orekhovo railway station and Lake Bolshoye Borkovo: Zhuravushka and Orekh Country Club are around 50–53 km from St Petersburg. Lenina Street and the museum at 7 Klyazminsky Proyezd are landmarks in Orekhovo-Zuyevo, not the destination covered here.
For access to a thermal area, choose a room at Igora. Vremena Goda, which has panoramic and hydromassage pools, a sauna and a hammam. If you prefer a private sauna, choose a cottage at Igora or one of Zhuravushka’s cottages for 5–7 or up to 12 guests; these also have kitchens.
Check for a kitchen and a private bathroom: Orekh Country Club’s family room has a kitchenette and its own bathroom, while Zhuravushka’s rooms have shared facilities on the same floor or in a neighbouring building. Ask about children’s access to the spa in advance, and at Bolshoye Borkovo Resort, also confirm whether the saunas and pools are open.
