Pushkin is often chosen instead of a night in central St. Petersburg: the suburban train from Tsarskoye Selo station reaches Vitebsky railway station in about half an hour, and minibuses run from the Kupchino and Moskovskaya metro stations. For that plan it makes sense to stay in the southern and eastern blocks — they are closer to the stops on Krasnoselskoye Highway and to the ring road exit, and you still come back to the parks in the evening. The bonus of this format: you see the Hermitage during the day, then reach Catherine Palace in the morning ahead of the main tour groups.

Minibuses run to the Kupchino and Moskovskaya metro stations — that trip takes 25–40 minutes depending on traffic. By car, the ring road is only a few minutes away, which also makes Pushkin a convenient base for trips around the other suburbs.
