The village sits at the mouth of the Turka River, and the whole of it fits into a short walk: from Oktyabrskaya and the neighboring streets you can reach both the shops and the pier of the Baikalskaya Gavan resort on foot. This is the right base if you arrive without a car — tours and fishing trips set out from here, and the water is close by in any case. Staying in the village also suits groups: everyday practicalities and groceries are simpler here than on the shore away from the settlement.

On the eastern shore a banya is not a bonus but part of the plan: after a day on the clear February ice or a morning of fishing, you need to warm up properly. Such houses usually come with a barbecue area and a yard, take guests with children and pets, and the owners will help arrange fishing and trips along the shore. In summer the same setup works differently — an evening in the banya after a walk in the hills, berry picking and a swim in the bracing water of Baikal.

This is an ideal option for a first trip to Lake Baikal. We’ve already stayed at this guest house before, but in a different building. This one has a better location — it’s close to the bus station, a spring, Baris, and not far from Lake Baikal. The room has everything you need for a comfortable stay; having Wi‑Fi and a TV is an extra plus — you can turn something on in the evenings on the TV or on your computer (if you’ve brought one with you). You can come here in summer, autumn, or winter. We visited in early September and the room temperature was comfortable. Our parents recently went there for a holiday too — they went on our recommendation.

This place is very soulful. The house has a soul, it’s like it’s alive. The interior details are very cute, every room has its own charm! The bed is huge and comfortable, the interior is very well‑thought‑out in an eco‑style, there’s plenty of space, it’s warm and cozy. The kitchen has everything you need. It’s a five‑minute walk to Lake Baikal, very close. The views are beautiful. The shop is also nearby.

If the trip is short and you want to be right by the water, choose the beachfront in Peski. If you are traveling as a group, with children, or planning fishing and excursions, it is more convenient to stay in the village: the shops, the pier and a banya are all close at hand.

For fishing, hills and berries — July and August, though the water warms up only in places. For Baikal ice, skating and skiing — February and March. May and September are quieter, but the weather is changeable and part of the infrastructure on the eastern shore works only in summer.

The price depends not on star rating but on the format: a guest house in the village is the most affordable option, an eco-hotel with a banya and spa costs noticeably more, and a premium cottage on the beachfront in Peski sits in a category of its own.
