Cheap hotels in downtown Abakan

The city is compact: the whole centre fits within a one-kilometre radius around Lenin Square, so detailed district navigation isn't really needed here. Where to stay depends less on the neighbourhood and more on the purpose of your visit to Abakan: whether you've come for a couple of business days, plan an early transfer to a plane or train, or are using the city as a launch point for travels around Khakassia.

The centre of Abakan sits right next to Lenin Square. Here you'll find the government of Khakassia, the L. R. Kyzlasov Khakass National Museum of Local History, Preobrazhensky Park, and the Abakan embankment. All of the city's four-star hotels stand on two adjacent streets — Lenin Avenue and Kirov Street.

Abakan Airport sits on the north-western edge of the city, 8 km from the centre. The direct flight to Moscow leaves early in the morning. To avoid calling a taxi before dawn, it's easier to spend the night in the apart-hotel cluster on Aviatorov and Generala Tikhonova streets — it's within walking distance of the terminal.
