Cheap hotels in downtown Novosibirsk

The center is made up of two adjacent districts: Tsentralny and Zheleznodorozhny. They stretch between the Ob embankment and Heroes of the Revolution Square. From here you can walk to the Opera House (NOVAT, the largest theater building in Russia), the Ploshchad Lenina metro station, the city's main axis — Krasny Prospekt — and the Chapel of St. Nicholas. If you're planning a business or cultural trip, or you want to land right in the middle of city life from the moment you arrive, pick this area.

Almost all of Novosibirsk's premium segment is concentrated here, along with most of the chain hotels:

• Domina Hotel Novosibirsk — a five-star hotel on Lenin Street, two minutes from the metro. Rates from 8,625 ₽ per night.
• Grand Autograph Hotel Novosibirsk — the former Marriott, at 31 Ordzhonikidze Street. The hotel has meeting rooms and a business breakfast. Rates from 12,240 ₽.
• DoubleTree by Hilton Novosibirsk — a four-star Hilton-brand hotel at 7/1 Kamenskaya Street. Rates start at 9,000 ₽.
• Greek Olympus Boutique Hotel — a hotel with a designer interior on the quiet Krylov Street. From 11,000 ₽.

The Trans-Siberian Railway runs through Novosibirsk. Many visitors stop here just for the night — for instance, breaking up a train trip to Irkutsk or Krasnoyarsk. In that case, book a hotel within a 5–10 minute walk of the platforms — on Shamshurin, Zheleznodorozhnaya or Pisarev Street. That way you won't have to drag a suitcase across the city, and the Opera House is just one metro stop away.

• Hotel Novaya Boutique Hotel — at 1 Shamshurin Street, right by the station square. Rates from 6,000 ₽ per night.

Another option is to stay on the Left Bank, in the Leninsky or Kirovsky districts. Prices here run roughly a third lower than in the center. You're also close to the Novosibirsk Expocentre (on Stantsionnaya Street) and the Sibir-Arena ice rink. This works well for visitors here for a trade show or a KHL game who don't want to cross the Ob every day.

• Gorskiy City Hotel — a four-star hotel at 144a Nemirovich-Danchenko Street. It rises right next to the Studencheskaya metro station. Rates from 6,825 ₽.

If you're after something even cheaper, check the "Cheap" collection. The Dzerzhinsky and Oktyabrsky districts have three-star hotels starting from 2,550 ₽. From there, the center is a 15–20 minute metro ride away.

Akademgorodok is a town within a town, sitting 25–30 km south of central Novosibirsk. If you're heading to the Technopark, NSU, the institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS), or a conference at the House of Scientists, staying "in the center" makes no sense. The round trip will eat more than an hour a day — longer at rush hour. Tolmachevo Airport is also noticeably faster to reach from Akademgorodok than from the center.

There aren't many serious hotels in Akademgorodok — just two, both on Akademik Lavrentyev Avenue, next to the university and the Technopark:
