Hotels in downtown Plyos
Central Plyos is a convenient base for walks along the embankment, around Market Square and to the museums. You can choose a hotel with guest services or an apartment for a more independent stay.
A Woodland Stay Near the Embankment
Gallery Levitan sits away from Plyos’s historic centre, among mature woodland, with the embankment a 10-minute walk downhill. It suits travellers who want to combine walks with a quiet retreat. A continental breakfast is included, and complimentary tea and coffee are available around the clock.
A Country Stay by the Volga
Semigorye suits travellers who prefer a countryside base for a trip to Plyos: the hotel is in the village of Shaldovo, surrounded by forest beside a sandy beach on the Volga, rather than in the town centre. There is an indoor pool and a restaurant serving breakfast daily; some apartments have a kitchenette.
A Base for Exploring Kostroma
These hotels are in Kostroma, not Plyos. Ostrovsky is convenient for walks to the theatre and historic trading arcades, while Moskovskaya Zastava offers a stay on the Volga embankment near the main sights. Troya is in the central district, a kilometre from the railway station; Shelestoff is near the centre, with a courtyard with a fountain where you can relax after exploring.
What to consider when choosing
Shalyapin-Plyos is in the historic centre, within walking distance of Market Square, Cathedral Hill, the Levitan House Museum and the Museum of Landscape. Kalashnaya Street links the embankment area with Market Square, making it a useful landmark for exploring on foot.
Grand Sova offers cots on request and runs workshops for children and adults. For more independence, Plesskaya Dacha sleeps four and has a kitchen, board games and books, with a children’s playground nearby.
Parking is available at the Shalyapin-Plyos mini-hotel. At Plesskaya Dacha, guests can park in the courtyard opposite the building, but the central square and embankment are about a 20-minute walk away.
