Hotels in Sheremetyevo Airport

The large airport hotels line Mezhdunarodnoye Shosse 3–5 km from the terminals and run their own shuttle right to the doors — it leaves roughly every half hour and doesn't depend on traffic heading into Moscow. Reception is staffed around the clock and there is on-site parking, so you can check in at three in the morning and leave the car behind while you travel. This is the choice for an early departure, a late arrival, a business trip or a crew layover: the same road holds both a hotel with a spa center and restaurant and plain rooms with no frills. If your flight leaves at 4 or 5 a.m., check the shuttle timetable at the front desk when you arrive.

If your layover runs to a few hours, there is no point heading into the city and clearing security all over again — the capsules operate right inside the Northern Terminal Complex, in the departure zone and just beside it. You pay by the hour, and each capsule has a bed, a light, power sockets and room for hand luggage; showers are shared. It suits solo travelers with light bags who want to sleep between flights instead of hunting for a taxi and waiting on a shuttle. Capsules fill up overnight, so book ahead.

The Aeroexpress terminal has its own places to sleep — from compact rooms rented by the hour to proper rooms with a door and a window on the building's top floor. From here it is a couple of minutes on foot to the platform for the train to Belorussky station and a short walk to the terminals of the southern complex. This is the middle ground between a cramped capsule and a trip out to a hotel: you get a real night's sleep and still stay inside the airport. Useful if you land in the evening and connect the next morning.

The cheapest beds are not on the highway itself but in the villages and settlements west of the airport: the terminals are a 10–20 minute taxi ride away, and a room costs noticeably less than at the branded hotels along the main road. These are ordinary countryside hotels with parking, their own café, a garden and a banya, but no shuttle — you arrange the ride to the terminal yourself. They work out best if you are traveling as a pair or with luggage and need a full room rather than a bed for the night. The further from the airport, the lower the rate: the most affordable options sit half an hour out, already on the way to Solnechnogorsk.

Lobnya presses right up against the airport from the north: the edge of town is closer to Terminal B than the hotels on Mezhdunarodnoye Shosse are, and in the town itself you can rent an apartment with a kitchen — a plus if you are flying with children or staying for several days. The Aeroexpress does not stop in Lobnya, so take a taxi to the terminals; the ride takes about a quarter of an hour. In return, suburban trains and the MCD-1 line run from the station, which makes this a convenient base not only for flying out but also for trips into Moscow.

Not every night by the airport is a transit night: if you have a full day between flights or you have come to Moscow for the weekend, there are hotels near SVO with a pool, a sauna and a spa area. They stand away from Mezhdunarodnoye Shosse, surrounded by greenery, with large grounds and a restaurant, so it is noticeably quieter here than at the hotels along the main road. People often book places like these for family celebrations and small groups. Keep in mind that they usually have no shuttle of their own — you reach the terminals by taxi.
