Book a hotel in Gagra
Gagra is split into two resort areas: Old Gagra and New Gagra. Old Gagra is famous for its colonnade, Prince Oldenburg's park and the park-hotels along Ardzinba Avenue. New Gagra offers a market, entertainment infrastructure, guest houses and more affordable places to stay.
Pick your spot and book a room in Gagra on Moya Bron. The site lists 53 places to stay, with prices starting from 3,450 ₽ per night.
Old or New Gagra: which side to choose
The main question when booking here is "which part of Gagra should I stay in." Both the atmosphere of your trip and the price per night depend on it.
Old Gagra is the historic northern part of the city, founded by Prince Oldenburg in 1903. You'll find a subtropical park, the 1956 colonnade, the Gagripsh restaurant (built in 1902) and a string of park-hotels along Ardzinba Avenue. By evening the promenade empties out, and the beach runs right up to the hotel grounds.
Among the places to stay:
- Amra Park-Hotel & Spa — from 16,000 ₽ per night. The hotel has its own spa and direct access to the sea.
- Park-Hotel Kavkaz — from 13,600 ₽ per night. The hotel sits next to Oldenburg Park.
New Gagra is the southern part of the city, with typical resort development. This is where you'll find the market, cafes and most of Gagra's guest houses. New Gagra is livelier and noticeably cheaper, and you can reach Old Gagra in 15–20 minutes by marshrutka.
Places to stay:
- Bougainvillea — from 3,450 ₽ per night. This is the most affordable place to stay in the city.
- Boutique Hotel Aimara — from 8,200 ₽ per night. The hotel offers 4-star service without unnecessary markups.
The By the Sea collection gathers places to stay with direct beach access on both sides of the city.
| Where to stay | Atmosphere | Who it suits | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Old Gagra | Colonnade, Prince Oldenburg's park, seafront park-hotels, quiet | Those who come for the architecture, want to stay at a park-hotel and value an unhurried pace | From 4,800 ₽ (3 stars), from 8,200 ₽ (4 stars) |
| New Gagra | Market, guest houses, restaurants, lively promenade | Budget travellers, families with children, those who like an active holiday | From 3,450 ₽ (guest house), from 13,500 ₽ (4 stars) |
| Mount Mamzyshkha | High-altitude glampings, views over the coast, 29 km from the sea | Those who come for mountain landscapes and quiet rather than the beach | From 12,000 ₽ |
Hotels near the colonnade and the Gagripsh restaurant
If you're coming to Gagra for the postcard views — the colonnade, the grand staircase and the 1902 Gagripsh restaurant — pick lodging within walking distance of the central stretch of Ardzinba Avenue.
- Kurortny Kompleks Gagripsh — from 4,800 ₽, a few minutes from the restaurant of the same name.
- Old Gagra — from 6,700 ₽, right on Ardzinba Avenue in the historic part of town.
The colonnade, the park and the Gagripsh restaurant sit in a single pedestrian cluster. From any hotel next to one of these landmarks you can easily walk to the other two. From New Gagra you can get here in 15–20 minutes by marshrutka. If your main goal is to admire the old architecture and stroll around in the morning before the beaches open, this is the part of town to stay in.
Glamping on Mount Mamzyshkha: an alternative to beach crowds
In July and August the beaches of New Gagra are packed, so some guests deliberately head uphill. Mount Mamzyshkha rises 1,873 m above sea level. On its slopes you'll find viewpoints from which the coast is visible all the way from Gagra to Pitsunda.
- Glamping AtmoSFERA — from 12,000 ₽, 29 km from the city center. It offers tents and chalets on platforms, a shower and toilet inside, and a viewing terrace above the coast.
It's an ideal choice for anyone who prefers mountain coolness to the +30 °C July heat and quiet to resort noise. You can always drive down to the sea for the day.
If the sea is still the priority, look at the guest houses closer to the promenade. Poseidon from 4,500 ₽ is a typical example of this kind of stay in New Gagra: close to the sea, inexpensive, with no extra infrastructure, but with home cooking and breakfasts prepared by the hosts.

Frequently Asked Questions
The choice depends on your plans. Old Gagra works if you're coming for historic architecture, the subtropical park and a calm pace. The park-hotels line up here along Ardzinba Avenue. New Gagra is a good option for a budget trip, a trip with kids, or staying closer to the market, entertainment and the lively promenade. The two parts of the city are linked by marshrutkas, and the ride from one to the other takes only about 15 minutes.
Park-hotels have their own fenced grounds, a pool, a restaurant and usually direct access to the sea. The main cluster of such hotels is on Ardzinba Avenue. Guest houses belong to the private sector. They tend to have cozy courtyards and home cooking, and the beach is 5–10 minutes away on foot. At the same time, there are no private grounds or spa services. Pick a park-hotel if you want to spend your holiday on its grounds and not step outside the gates. A guest house suits you if you plan to follow the rhythm of the city and save money.
The swimming season runs from June to September. July and August are the peak, when the sea is at its warmest, tourist numbers are high, and accommodation rates are at their highest. May and October are the shoulder season: prices are pleasant, everything around is either green or golden, but the weather isn't always suitable for swimming. September is often picked as a compromise: the sea is still warm, schoolchildren have gone home, and accommodation costs less than in July.
Russian citizens don't need an international passport — at the Psou checkpoint a domestic Russian passport is enough. The rules are occasionally updated, so before your trip it's worth checking the current requirements on the border service websites.
The nearest airport is Sochi (Adler), about 40 km from Gagra. From the airport or Adler railway station you can reach the Psou checkpoint in 10–15 minutes by taxi or local train. After that you cross the border on foot and cover the remaining 25 km or so to Gagra. On the stretch from Psou to your hotel, marshrutkas and taxis are available.
