Cheap hotels with breakfast in Grozny

All of Grozny's tourist life is concentrated around Kadyrov Avenue. Everything is close by: the "Grozny-City" skyscrapers with their observation deck, Flower Park, the well-kept embankment, and across the Sunzha River — the "Heart of Chechnya" mosque. If you're in town for a couple of days, it makes sense to stay within walking distance of the main sights so you don't waste time on transport.

A solid option right in the center is the Edelweiss Grozny Hotel. This four-star hotel on Allauddin Street starts at 5,000 ₽ per night. "Grozny-City" is only 900 meters away, and there's a restaurant inside the building.

If your budget is tight but you still want to be close to the sights, check out the Arbat hotel on Griboyedov Street. Rates start at 2,500 ₽ per night. The rooms are modest and priced like a hostel, but the mosque and the towers are within walking distance.

Grozny has only two five-star hotels, and the choice between them comes down not to service level but to the shape of your trip.

Cosmos Selection Grozny City occupies part of a tower in the "Grozny-City" complex at 1/16 Kadyrov Avenue. The windows offer a panoramic view of the "Heart of Chechnya" mosque, and the main sights are a few minutes' walk away. Bonus: the complex's observation deck is in the neighboring tower (29th floor, entry costs about 200 ₽). Rooms start at 9,000 ₽. Pick this hotel if you're here for the architecture of the center and want to wake up in the middle of a picturesque panorama.

Grozny Palace sits at 59 Maty Kishieva Street, in the Akhmatovsky district (formerly Leninsky), about 2 km east of the center. The atmosphere here is calmer. Rates start at 10,000 ₽. This hotel is a great fit for those traveling by car: parking is easier to find, and the drive toward the mountain routes takes much less time.

Small guest houses without "stars" are popular in Grozny. They often sit in quiet courtyards just off the main streets. It's a great way to stay 5–10 minutes from "Grozny-City" and save the kind of money that would cover only a single night at a chain hotel.

• Nokhcho-Star — a guest house at 8 Putin Avenue. Rates start at 2,700 ₽ per night. It's a seven-minute walk to the "Heart of Chechnya" mosque.
• Nohchostar — another spot with the same name but a different address: 14A Esambayev Boulevard. Rates from 4,100 ₽. It's closer to the "Grozny-City" complex and has a separate entrance.

More options in the same style are in the "Central and affordable" collection. This format works well if you're planning a two-to-three-day trip as a couple or with the family and don't need a 24-hour front desk or an in-house restaurant.

The optimal way to travel around Chechnya is to base yourself in Grozny and take radial trips into the mountains (2–4 days). A typical itinerary includes: the Argun Gorge (the Ushkaloy and Itum-Kali towers), Lake Kezenoy-Am on the border with Dagestan, and Vedeno.

If you stay right in the center, every morning you'll lose 15–20 minutes at traffic lights on the way out of the city. To save time, look at hotels on the outskirts.

Hotel Rizo is in the Zavodskoy district at 51 Akhmadov Street. It's a mini-hotel with rates from 2,500 ₽. The center is 10–15 minutes away by car. In the morning, though, you leave the city right away and skip the jams on Kadyrov Avenue.

For business trips and stays of four nights or more, the SiraDin aparthotel is more convenient. It's in the Oktyabrsky district to the south, at 185 Saykhanov Street. Rates from 4,000 ₽. Rooms come with a kitchenette and a washing machine, and the hotel sits near the southern interchange.
