Pyatigorsk's resort district is compact: within a kilometer of Tsvetnik you will find the Lermontov Gallery, the Yermolov Baths, the Academic Gallery, Lenin Square and the lower cable car station. If you have come for a drinking course, stay right here — the pump rooms are a 5–10 minute walk away, and you won't have to fit your water schedule around public transport. This is also the best choice for a short two- or three-day visit and for guests without a car: the railway station is in the center as well.

The Caucasian Mineral Waters treat the digestive system, the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the core of any course is drinking water, Tambukan mud applications, and radon and hydrogen sulfide baths. A sanatorium bundles all of it into one program: a doctor on site, a treatment schedule and a diet are included in the package, which is usually booked for two to three weeks. This format makes sense if you have a referral from your doctor and are ready to live by the resort's timetable.

This format is also the most convenient one with a child: the family keeps its own routine, has a separate room and space for suitcases, and the cable car and Kirov Park are a 10–15 minute ride away.

Staying in the center for all three weeks of a course is expensive, so many people rent in Novopyatigorsk or on Prospekt Kalinina — accommodation there is noticeably cheaper with the same set of amenities. Tsvetnik Park is 10–20 minutes away by tram or minibus, and the Pyatigorsk tram network runs reliably and often. This is the option for those who spend the day at the pump rooms and on the trails anyway, and come back to the room only to sleep.

If you have arrived by car and city noise is the last thing you need, look toward Beshtaugorskoye Highway and Inozemtsevo: forest, clean air and your own parking spot instead of a fight for a place at the curb. The pump rooms are a 15–25 minute drive, but the hiking routes up Beshtau start right outside, and in the evening you hear neither the tram nor the resort crowds.
