Cheap hotels in downtown Pitsunda
In Pitsunda, behind the ancient pine grove right by the sea, you won't run into resort crowds — just quiet and the healing air. Moya Bron lists 22 places to stay: guest houses from 3,000 ₽, mini-hotels by the beach bay, and Soviet-era sanatorium buildings around Topolyovaya Street. Book a room and pick your spot — close to the pine grove, on the water, or, on the contrary, away from the busy center.
Where to Stay in Pitsunda: Topolyovaya by the Pine Grove or Quiet Ldzaa
The small peninsula splits into two very different parts. To the west sits the "town" side of Pitsunda, built around Topolyovaya and Gytsba streets. Here you'll find the 10th-century cathedral, the buildings of the Kurort Pitsunda complex, and a beach bay sheltered from the waves by the cape. To the east, just beyond the grove, begins the village of Ldzaa, or Lidzava. It brings private courtyards, the fish-factory promenade, and a wild beach. Prices in both parts are roughly the same, but the experience is different.
The Center by the Pine Grove: Topolyovaya and Gytsba
The 10th-century Patriarchal Cathedral and the pebble bay are a 5–10 minute walk away, and you can reach the water through the pine grove in about a minute. This part of town also has a concert hall with an organ, cafes, a market, and most of the excursion booths. The area suits those who want to see classic Pitsunda and don't plan on constantly driving to the village for groceries.
- Hotel Pitsunda — Topolyovaya 2, about a hundred meters from the grove, from 6,500 ₽ per night.
- Freedom — the next building on the same Topolyovaya, from 5,700 ₽.
- Damira — the most budget-friendly option right in the center, from 3,750 ₽.
If you're looking for inexpensive lodging near the cathedral and the grove, start with the In the center cheap collection. It gathers mini-hotels and rooms priced up to 5,000 ₽, all within walking distance of the promenade.
Ldzaa: the Eastern Side of the Peninsula
Beyond the grove begins Ldzaa. This part of the cape is mostly one- and two-story buildings, private guest houses, and a beach that doesn't get crowded even in August. Getting to central Pitsunda is easy: about 1.5 km on foot along the sea or 10 minutes by taxi. Come here for the quiet and lower prices — but for a wider choice of cafes and groceries you'll still need to head into the village.
How Much a Night in Pitsunda Costs and What to Expect at Different Price Points
In the Pitsunda listings, a night runs anywhere from 3,000 to 14,250 rubles. Star-rated hotels are rare here. The resort grew out of Soviet sanatoriums, and today the lineup is mostly guest houses and mini-hotels without any formal classification. So when picking a place, travelers go by budget and distance to the sea, not by star count.
| Nightly budget | What's usually included | What to look at |
|---|---|---|
| 3,000–4,500 ₽ | A room in a guest house, a shared kitchen or a modest breakfast. The sea is 1–4 km away. | Look at places farther from the center — on Gochua and Fabrichnaya streets — and at budget rooms in Ldzaa. |
| 5,000–7,500 ₽ | A mini-hotel or a room in a renovated sanatorium block. The bay is a 5–15 minute walk away. | Consider central options on Topolyovaya and Gytsba, plus front-line guest houses in Ldzaa. |
| 8,000–10,000 ₽ | A standalone hotel with grounds, parking, and sometimes a pool. The promenade is within walking distance. | Look near the central part of the cape or in the upper tier of Ldzaa. |
| From 14,000 ₽ | A premium format with its own facilities and individual service. | Costa d'Ora on Fabrichnaya Street is the only property in this niche. |
Simple rule: each 1.5–2 km farther from the beach bay cuts 1,000–2,000 rubles off the nightly rate. If you're willing to drive to the sea, you can roughly halve your budget.
If Pitsunda Is Too Pricey: Alakhadzy, Tsandrypsh, and Gagra
In July and August, prices in the Pine Grove climb. That's when it's worth looking at the neighboring villages along the coast. From Pitsunda, Alakhadzy is about 10 km away, Gagra 25 km, and Tsandrypsh — right at the border with Sochi — about 50 km. The scenery is the same: sea and mountains. Each village has its own basic infrastructure, and prices start from lower marks.
- Park Hotel Abkhazia — located in Tsandrypsh, from 3,600 ₽ per night. One of the cheapest options among the neighboring offerings.
- Boutique Hotel Aimara — located in Gagra. The only four-star hotel in the area. Prices start from 8,200 ₽.
All seaside lodging in Pitsunda and the neighboring villages is gathered in the By the sea collection. It also includes front-line hotels in Ldzaa and Alakhadzy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Swimming season usually opens in late May and runs through the end of September. Prices and occupancy peak in July and August, when most of the children's camps at the sanatoriums are running.
The "velvet season" in September is the sweet spot. The water still holds around +25 °C, the beaches thin out, and hotel rates drop noticeably.
May and October work for sightseeing. You can visit the cathedral and the grove, but swimming is no longer an option by then.
The quietest part of Pitsunda is Ldzaa (Lidzava), behind the ancient grove. Here you'll find private guest houses, the fish-factory promenade, and a wild pebble beach. There's no animation team or sanatorium crowd on the beach. You can walk to the city center along the sea — about 1.5 km.
Russian citizens do not need a visa to enter Abkhazia. An internal passport is enough.
Most travelers fly into Adler and then drive to Pitsunda through the Psou border checkpoint. The distance is about 80 km. In high season, the border crossing can take 2–4 hours — keep that in mind, especially if you're planning to catch an early morning flight on the way back.
The main difference between Pitsunda and Gagra is the cape and the ancient grove. Pitsunda's beach bay is sheltered from the surf, so the sea is calmer here. The grove runs along the shore, filling the air with pine scent and phytoncides.
Gagra, in turn, is larger than Pitsunda, has livelier nightlife, and is more convenient to reach from the airport. But Gagra is noisier, and there's no pine park next to its beach like the one in Pitsunda.
