Hotels in Solnechnogorsk
Choose a hotel in Solnechnogorsk and its district — mini-hotels downtown, lakeside stays by Senezh, cottages near the Istra Reservoir, or apartments by the M-11 exit.
Hotels in central Solnechnogorsk, near the train station
There are not many hotels within the town limits itself, and nearly all of them sit within a few blocks of Leningradskoye Highway — walking distance from the train station, the shops and the southern shore of Lake Senezh. This works well if you have come for a day or two without a car or are waiting for a train to Moscow: the town is compact, and everything you need turns out to be a fifteen-minute walk away. In summer people value being close to the water here; the rest of the year, the fact that you don't have to travel anywhere for dinner.
Where to stay on the shore of Lake Senezh
Senezh is the main reason to come to Solnechnogorsk: fishing, the sailing school at the yacht club and swimming at the height of summer. Places to stay by the water stretch along Timonovskoye Highway and across the northern edge of town, five to eight kilometres from the centre, and people choose them not by star rating but by atmosphere — from an old artists' retreat with direct access to the shore to a quiet hotel with a courtyard, a banya and a restaurant. The swimming season is short, but off-season the lake is emptier and noticeably quieter.
Spa hotels and places for a quiet weekend for two
Only a handful of places in the district cover the "go away for two nights, take a steam and do nothing" format: the district's only five-star hotel, with private grounds by the water on Timonovskoye Highway, and country complexes further west, already closer to Klin, where there is a pool, a banya and forest right beyond the fence. The range in service levels here is enormous, so go by what is actually included in the stay rather than by the category. There are only a few properties of this kind in the area, so a weekend is best booked well ahead.
Cottages and eco-resorts by the Istra Reservoir
The western part of the district — the villages of Pyatnitsa, Loginovo and Berezhki — is proper countryside: cottages and villas by the water, twenty to thirty kilometres from Solnechnogorsk. People come here with family or friends for two or three nights, to rent a whole house, heat up the banya, take a boat out and walk in the forest. Waterfront houses go first, especially over the May holidays and at the peak of summer, so it is worth locking in your dates early.
Houses with a banya and a barbecue for a group
If what you need is a house rather than a hotel room, the southern and western fringes of the district rent out estates and standalone cottages with a banya, a plunge pool and a barbecue area. This is a format for a group of friends or a large family: your own grounds, a grill, water nearby, and an hour to an hour and a half to Moscow along the Leningradka or Pyatnitskoye Highway. Check the capacity and the check-in terms: houses like these are usually let whole and for two nights minimum.
Where to stop for the night on the way to St Petersburg, off the M-11
The south of the district — the villages of Lozhki and Yesipovo along Leningradskoye Highway — works as a transit stop: pull off the M-11, sleep over and head on towards Tver and St Petersburg in the morning. Accommodation here is simple and the most affordable in the area, but it comes with parking and check-in at any hour, which matters when you arrive past midnight. It is five to ten minutes from the motorway to the door.
Apartments near Zelenograd: Goluboye and the south of the district
The village of Goluboye sits practically on the border with Zelenograd, and flats in the new buildings here are rented mainly for work trips to the Zelenograd plants — half an hour by car into town. The apartment format wins on longer stays: your own kitchen, a washing machine and no hotel timetable. If you want a country base with a banya and bicycles rather than a town, places like that lie further east, closer to the Dmitrov direction.
A night near Blok's estate: Shakhmatovo and the north of the district
The north of the district is a literary route: the museum reserve with Blok's estate at Shakhmatovo and neighbouring Boblovo, where Mendeleev lived. There is almost nowhere to sleep in the village itself, so there are two options — stay right by the museum, or take a house on the northern edge of Solnechnogorsk and drive over in half an hour. One or two days is enough for the route, and it looks its best in late May and in the golden autumn.

Frequently Asked Questions
Closest to the water are the blocks along Timonovskoye Highway, five to eight kilometres from the centre: they have direct access to the shore and a beach. If you would rather be in town than on its outskirts, options in the centre and on the northern side of the lake work well — the water is a fifteen- to twenty-minute walk from there.
This is the most affordable segment in the district: simple apartments along Leningradskoye Highway in Lozhki and Yesipovo cost noticeably less than town hotels and country houses. Flats in the new buildings in Goluboye are pricier, but still count as a budget option. Prices are higher in summer and at weekends than on off-season weekdays.
Yes, there is one in the district — on Timonovskoye Highway, right by the water, with a spa centre, a restaurant and private grounds. Its rates sit well above everything else: the rest of the area's stock is small hotels, apartments, guest houses and country cottages.
There is essentially one place to stay in Shakhmatovo itself, but you can walk to the museum reserve from it. The alternative is a house on the northern edge of Solnechnogorsk: from there it is about half an hour to Shakhmatovo, and another twenty to thirty minutes by car to Boblovo, where Mendeleev lived.
Look at the south of the district — Goluboye, Yesipovo and Lozhki. It is half an hour by car to Zelenograd from here and a matter of minutes to the M-11 exit, so it is easy to combine a work trip with runs into Moscow.
The western part of the district by the Istra Reservoir and the southern surroundings — that is where cottages and estates are rented out whole, with a banya, a barbecue and their own grounds. Two or three nights is the ideal format; over the May holidays and in July and August houses like these are booked far in advance.
