Hotels in downtown Vladimir

Vladimir's historic core is compact: from the Golden Gate to the Dmitriev Cathedral is a 15-minute walk along Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street. Another five minutes brings you to the Assumption Cathedral and the viewpoint over the Klyazma. To see all the UNESCO sites without taxis or traffic, look for a place in the quarter between Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street and Lipki Park.

• Ilyinka — a 4-star hotel at 6a Chekhova Street. Ten minutes on foot to Cathedral Square. Rates start at 4,500 ₽ per night.
• Bogolyubsky — a small 4-star hotel at 14 Komsomolskaya Street, 500 meters from the Dmitriev Cathedral. Rates start at 6,800 ₽.
• Chester — a hotel at 27 Bolshaya Nizhegorodskaya Street, by the eastern entrance to the historic center. From 8,500 ₽ per night.
• Central Park 33 — an apart-hotel at 29 Mikhailovskaya Street. A good pick for families or anyone staying more than two nights. Rates start at 21,660 ₽.

Many travelers come to Vladimir to use it as a base for a two-day route. In the morning you can head to Bogolyubovo. The village is 10 km away and home to the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl. Then move on to Suzdal, about 35–36 km along the R-132 "Golden Ring" highway.

To avoid getting stuck in city traffic or hunting for parking on narrow side streets, pick a hotel in the southwest of Vladimir, near the exit onto the M-7 highway.

• Russkaya Derevnya — a Russian-style complex at 5a Moskovskoye Highway. The hotel has a large parking lot and a restaurant. Rates start at 6,000 ₽ per night.
• Semyazino — a simple hotel at 9 Prigorodnaya Street, five minutes from the exit toward Suzdal. Rates start at 4,100 ₽.

Vladimir is one of the few Golden Ring cities where you can find a room with a private bathroom for under 2,000 ₽ per night. The most affordable places line the right bank of the Klyazma (the Zaklyazmensky micro-district) and Studyonaya Hill. From either area you can reach the Golden Gate in 15–20 minutes by bus or taxi.

• Rubikon — a 2-star hotel in the Zaklyazmensky micro-district at 17 Zelyonaya Street. The cheapest option in the city, from 1,650 ₽ per night.
• Zarya — a 3-star hotel at 36a Studyonaya Gora Street. It's about a 10–15 minute walk to the Golden Gate along the ridge of Studyonaya Hill, one of the highest streets in the center. Rates start at 4,000 ₽.
• Osen Apartments at 3 Prospekt Stroiteley — a 24 m² mini-studio with a double bed. From 3,250 ₽ per night.
