In the Old Town, five minutes from Vyborg Castle

Most guests stay on Krepostnaya, Podgornaya, Storozhevoy Bashni and Vodnoy Zastavy streets. This is the pedestrian Linnoitus quarter, with cobbled pavements and 16th–17th-century Swedish burgher houses. You can walk to Castle Island in five to ten minutes. There are almost no boxy chain hotels here — mostly mini-hotels and apartments inside historic buildings.

Apartments J&N Krepostnaya — from 7,217 ₽ per night, 37A Krepostnaya St., a few minutes from the Transfiguration Cathedral.
Pikhta — from 2,900 ₽, 6 Podgornaya St., about a hundred meters from the castle. This is the most budget-friendly mini-hotel on these streets.
Welcomerooms on Krepostnaya Street — from 5,524 ₽, apartments with their own kitchen. A solid option if you don't want to depend on café breakfasts.

Out of town, by Saimaa Bay and Monrepos Park

North of the center, a different Vyborg begins. On Tverdysh Island and further along the Gulf of Finland shore, you enter a realm of forest, water and the scenic coves of the Saimaa Canal. The castle is 4–13 km away, so you'll want a car. In return, it's quiet, there's no sign of tourists, and you can fire up a Russian sauna.

Where to stay in Vyborg: the Old Town, the train station or Saimaa Bay

The Lastochka train from Finlyandsky Station takes about an hour. Guests usually choose between a stay near the train station and apartments in the Old Town. A third option is to head out of town, toward the water.
