In the northwest and south of Ivanovo, in the Novaya Ilinka and Moskovsky districts, you'll find a cluster of similar studios with kitchens. Plyos, Palekh, and Shuya are all reachable by bus from the bus station. The ride to Plyos takes about an hour and a half, to Palekh about 1 hour 10 minutes, and to Shuya just half an hour.
The bus schedule works well for a day trip: you'll arrive in time for museums to open and be back in Ivanovo by dinner. That's why it makes more sense to sleep in Ivanovo than in Plyos or Palekh. Those towns have limited lodging, and prices climb noticeably in peak season.
