No tickets or treatment vouchers are needed and the routes are open all year, so the area works equally well in summer and in Kislovodsk's snowless winter.

The main question in Kislovodsk is not the star rating but the format of your stay. The Narzan Gallery is fifteen to twenty minutes away by car or minibus, and about half an hour from the villages further out, so travelling into town for treatments is realistic, though having your own car makes life much easier. Take this option if hiking and nature matter more to you than a pump room around the corner.
