The heart of the village is Lenina, Sovkhoznaya, Tenginskaya and Rostovskaya streets: this is where the market, the shops and the cafes are, and the pebble beach is a ten- to fifteen-minute walk away. Most of the local accommodation is concentrated here as well, so the choice in the center is the widest in town — from a modest room in a guest house to the priciest rooms in Lermontovo. It suits travelers who would rather not depend on a car, as long as they don't mind that these streets get noisier and busier in summer than the outskirts do.

The row closest to the water is Kurortnaya, Naberezhnaya and Primorskaya streets: the pebble beach is a couple of minutes' walk from here, and the noise of the market no longer reaches you. Shops and cafes are a little farther off than they are from the center, but you don't have to plan the whole day around a single trip to the sea. This kind of stay works for people who go down to the water in the morning and again in the evening, without hauling a beach bag around all day.

Lermontovo is a resort without star-rated blocks or sanatoriums, and that is exactly why a cheap bed is easy to find here: the most affordable places stand on the inner streets of the village and on the grounds of the old holiday camps. The walk to the beach from them takes about as long as from the center — what you pay extra for here is a beachfront address and a pool in the yard, not saved minutes. Rates are lowest and rooms easiest to find in May and the second half of September, once the main crowds have gone.

A private yard with a pool and a barbecue area is how Lermontovo's family-run places make up for the absence of sanatoriums and all-inclusive resorts. The beach is pebbly and the sea is not always calm, so the pool comes in handy on windy days, and the grill in the evening, when nobody feels like walking to a cafe. A yard like that almost always comes with parking, which matters if you have driven in along the highway.

Families come to Lermontovo for the short walk to the sea and for an enclosed yard where a child can be let out of sight for a while. The entry into the water is pebbly and not gently sloping everywhere, so many families pick a place with a pool or a water slide and save sea swimming for the morning and the evening. The village is small, so the pharmacy, the market and the cafes are within walking distance from almost anywhere.

The northeastern edge of the village — the Lazurnaya Polyana neighborhood and the plots by the forestry station — is noticeably greener and calmer than the center: neither the bustle of the market nor the hum of the highway carries this far. The price of that quiet is an extra fifteen to twenty minutes to the beach, or getting into the car. A good choice for anyone coming to take a break from the city rather than to join the resort crowds.

If Lermontovo feels crowded at the height of summer, look at the neighboring stretches of coast along the A-147 "Dzhubga — Sochi" highway: the village of Plyakho with its quartz sand and the Golubaya Bukhta neighborhood with its clear water lie a few kilometers away in opposite directions. Each has its own beach and its own exit off the highway, and both are usually quieter, with more rooms still open, than the center of the village. Walking between the two shores is impractical — you'll need a car or a minibus.

Guest houses rule the village itself, so travelers after stars, a spa and proper hotel service usually head toward Dzhubga, Nebug and Olginka. The nearest buildings with a pool, sauna, gym and restaurant stand a few kilometers from Lermontovo along the Dzhubga — Sochi road. This is the choice for anyone who values a front desk and housekeeping over a host's backyard, and doesn't mind driving to the beach.

Two families or a group of friends in Lermontovo are usually better served by a whole house than by a room: a private yard, a kitchen, a grill and space for several cars at once. Such places exist both in the village and on its green outskirts, but they are the first to go for July and August — better to book in winter or early spring. What you get in return is self-sufficiency: no shared kitchen and no neighbors through the wall.
