Hostels in Moscow
Moscow’s hostels offer capsules, dorm beds and private rooms. Look closely at the location and facilities: not every private room has its own bathroom.
A Capsule or Room in Moscow
Choose from private rooms, dorm beds and capsules. Netizen Rimskaya has family rooms for up to four, while InterQube on Bolshaya Polyanka offers single-occupancy capsules and a shared kitchen with a hob. At Buran, use of the washing machine is included in the rate; at 47Nebo, you can enjoy Moscow views from the lounge on the 47th floor.
Hostels with kitchens near the metro
All four hostels have shared kitchens, handy for cooking between outings in Moscow. Drop Inn near Komsomolskaya offers single-person capsules or a double room with a private bathroom, while Yum Yum near Tverskaya Street has dorm beds and private rooms. Travel Inn Dobryninskaya offers an Economy family room with shared showers on the floor; Ostanovka suits travellers who prefer the quiet northern neighbourhood of Khovrino.
Dorm beds or private rooms
This group of hostels offers options for a shared or more private stay. Travel inn Timiryazevskaya has private rooms for two with shared bathroom facilities, and the metro is 600 metres away. Dream Place suits travellers looking for a women-only dorm and several metro stations within walking distance; both hostels have kitchens for preparing your own meals.
Kitchens and a choice of rooms
BookBox offers dorm beds and private rooms, including some with their own shower and toilet. Travel inn Pervomayskaya also has private rooms and dorm beds, but bathrooms are shared; a communal kitchen lets you cook your own meals. Eger 177 suits travellers happy with a dorm bed: there’s a shared kitchen, and Sokolniki metro station is within walking distance.
What to consider when choosing
For walks around the centre, consider Polyanka na Chistykh Prudakh: Red Square and the Bolshoi Theatre are about a 20-minute walk away. Pedestrian Arbat Street is another useful landmark: its starting point at Arbatskaya Square is about a 10-minute walk from the Kremlin.
Choose a dorm if you just need a bed; a capsule offers a more enclosed sleeping space but may still be in a shared room, as at Hostel House Pokrovsky. For more privacy, book a private room and check the bathroom arrangements: Travel inn Timiryazevskaya has shared facilities, while Drop Inn offers a double room with its own bathroom.
Hostel House Pokrovsky has individual lockers, while CAPS Hotel has storage spaces; check ahead whether your suitcase will fit and whether the storage locks. If you arrive before check-in or leave after check-out, also ask whether you can leave your luggage.
