Novorossiysk makes a convenient jumping-off point for wine trips. Many travelers pick it as a base and run day trips from here to tastings at Abrau-Dyurso, the Myskhako winery, and Kabardinka. The swimming season in Novorossiysk runs from early June through late September. The best window to come is late August and the first half of September. By then the heat has eased, crowds have thinned, and hotel rates have dropped from their peak.
