Central Anapa means the Marine Terminal, the main waterfront promenade, the Gorgippia excavation museum, the Anapa lighthouse and the Russian Gate, and in the evening the pedestrian stretch of Gorkogo Street with its cafes. Central Beach is within walking distance, which is the main draw of this area for anyone who has no intention of spending the whole trip inside a hotel: the sea and sightseeing by day, the promenade and dinner in town by night. Accommodation here varies widely — from large city hotels with spas to compact guesthouses a block from the waterfront.

The Vysoky Bereg begins right past the center: the town breaks off toward the sea, pebbles take the place of sand, and stairways and ramps lead down to the water. The area suits travelers who don't get on with the shallows and the crush of the main beach — the water off the pebbles is clearer and gets deep within a couple of steps from shore, and the upper floors look out over the whole bay. The waterfront and the Marine Terminal are still a walk along the cliff away, so city life stays within reach.

Pionersky Prospekt runs along the sea from the edge of Anapa all the way to Vityazevo, and its first seaside blocks make up the Alean family cluster. The format is the same throughout: gated green grounds, pools, entertainment programs and a water park, with the sandy beach a few minutes' walk away and no roads or city streets to cross with a child. Travelers choose this when the whole vacation is built around keeping kids busy and a trip into the center is planned a couple of times at most.

The far end of Pionersky Prospekt is taken up by an entire resort quarter under a single brand: several buildings share one stretch of beach, a park and the same infrastructure, yet each runs on its own concept. There is a family wing with entertainment and children's pools, an ultra-luxury wing for couples, a retro residence in the French manner and an all-inclusive building for guests who never intend to leave the grounds. The convenience lies in the shared address: children's activities and an adult evening can be combined by simply walking over to the next wing.

The shallow sandy spit is exactly why families with toddlers come to Anapa: the entry is gentle, the bottom is even, and the water warms up quickly. Beachfront hotels line this spit from the start of Pionersky Prospekt up to Dzhemete, and they open straight onto the sea from their own grounds — no walking through blocks of streets every morning with an umbrella and a swim ring. July and August pack the beach; by the velvet season it thins out and the water still holds its summer warmth.

All-inclusive comes in three different settings on the Anapa coast: on the cliffs of the Vysoky Bereg, in the sandy stretch near Vityazevo and in the pebble bay of Sukko. The format makes sense if you plan to spend the vacation inside the resort and would rather not account for every dinner, cocktail and kids' club session separately. If cafes on Gorkogo Street, the wineries and a trip to the Lotus Valley are on your list, there is no point paying extra for full board — a hotel with breakfast will do.

Anapa is not only a beach resort: people come here for therapeutic mud and mineral water, and the sanatorium cluster sits compactly at the start of Pionersky Prospekt, steps from the sea and the park. Wellness programs run year-round, which is why in late autumn and winter the town lives off its health resorts rather than its beach. This option fits those coming for two or three weeks of treatments and a dietary meal plan rather than a short stay.

Vityazevo is a village in its own right about ten kilometers north of Anapa, and the AAQ airport terminal effectively stands on its land: you land and check in a quarter of an hour later. The beach is the same one — the sandy spit continues here without a break — while the promenade is built in Greek style, with taverns and colonnades. It is quieter than in town and usually easier on the budget, a logical choice if you would rather not spend the first day of your vacation on a transfer.

Sukko lies beyond the Vysoky Bereg, some twenty minutes' drive from Anapa: a pebble bay, clear water and slopes covered in juniper and pine. Trails head out from here to Mount Lysaya, the cypress lake and on into the Bolshoy Utrish nature reserve, so a day is easy to fill with more than the beach. People choose the area for the quiet and the pine air instead of a noisy promenade and baking asphalt — though there is no sand here, and with very young children getting into the water is awkward.

The most affordable places to stay in Anapa hide in the side streets around the Marine Terminal — Kordonny, Meditsinsky, Tamanskaya, Shevchenko and Krymskaya: small hotels and guesthouses in the private sector, ten to fifteen minutes on foot from Central Beach and the waterfront. People book them for a whole vacation when a room is only needed for sleeping, and for a night or two before checking into a sanatorium or setting off for the Lotus Valley and the Sauk-Dere winery. Expect a simple set of amenities: a yard, parking, sometimes a small pool, but no entertainment program and no grounds to speak of.
