Cheap hotels in downtown Samara

The main question for visitors to Samara: how close to the Volga should you book?

The historic center stretches between Kuybysheva, Stepana Razina and Samarskaya streets. Its compact footprint — just 2–3 kilometers — is ideal for unhurried walks. From here it's a 15-minute walk to landmarks like Strukovsky Garden, the Drama Theatre and Stalin's Bunker, and only about 5 minutes to the picturesque embankment.

Among the district's flagships is the five-star Lotte Hotel Samara. Rates here start from 34,000 ₽ per night. The Korean chain opened the hotel on the corner of Samarskaya and Mayakovskaya — three blocks from the Volga.

If you don't need five stars, consider HolidayHall Samara — a four-star hotel on Alexey Tolstoy Street with rooms from 13,750 ₽. It sits on the same block but without the premium markup.

For those who prefer an intimate atmosphere, Dom Sivre on Stepana Razina is a good fit. This small boutique hotel occupies an old mansion, with rates starting at 12,000 ₽.

Leninsky district is Samara's business corridor. Novo-Sadovaya Street runs parallel to the Volga, 1–2 kilometers from the bank. Business centers, shopping complexes, restaurants and the Alabinskaya metro station — the one closest to the historic center — line the street. If you're heading to a meeting, a business trip or an exhibition, you'll find it more convenient to commute from here than from old Samara.

The five-star 7 Avenue Hotel and Spa rises at Novo-Sadovaya, 3. Rates here start from 12,000 ₽. While the price is comparable to Dom Sivre in the center, 7 Avenue offers a different format: a spa complex with a pool and banya — a good way to recover after a working day.

If your budget is tight, take a look at BRUT on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street. This small modern hotel offers rooms from 5,500 ₽. From there it's a ten-minute walk to Alabinskaya metro station and about twenty minutes to Samarskaya Square.

Kurumoch Airport lies 40 kilometers north of Samara. By car along the Moskovskoye Highway the drive takes an hour to an hour and a half, and traffic or winter weather can stretch it further. If your flight is early or you arrive late at night, we recommend staying nearby. That way you avoid a long trip across the city. Right inside the airport terminal there's Aviaotel — just a couple of minutes' walk from the check-in desks. A room here costs from 6,400 ₽.

Krasnoglinsky district is an entirely different Samara. Here you'll find the Zhiguli Mountains, pine forests, the Samarskaya Luka National Park and the Krasnaya Glinka ski resort, which usually runs from December through March. The district is 25–30 km from the city center. The Volga is a few minutes' walk away — just down the slope. In season, Moya Glinka operates here — a four-star hotel by the slopes. Rates start from 6,300 ₽. In summer this hotel makes a convenient base for hikes through Samarskaya Luka and trips to the Shikhany hills.

You can find genuinely inexpensive places to stay in Samara. Most often they are in two areas: near the railway station or out of town, along the Moskovskoye Highway.

The most affordable in-town option is SMART HOTEL Samara. It sits on Komsomolskaya Square, next to the railway station. Rates start from 2,220 ₽. The hotel offers small capsule rooms. They're enough if you need to spend a night between trains or stop briefly.

Out of town there are other options — for example, Ozerki and HOTEL 19. They sit at the 19th–23rd kilometer of the Moskovskoye Highway. Rates here start from 800 ₽. Keep in mind, though, that the drive to the embankment takes 30–40 minutes by car. Without a car it's hard to reach.

Before you book the cheapest room on the outskirts, do the math on taxi costs. For instance, the price gap between a 4,500 ₽ room in the center and a 2,500 ₽ room on the Moskovskoye Highway disappears after just two trips to the old town.
