What to consider when choosing
The Central District is convenient for walks along Navaginskaya Street and visits to the Seaport and Riviera Park, while the Khostinsky District is worth considering for balneotherapy at Matsesta. Bear in mind that Greater Sochi is very spread out and divided into four districts.
Look beyond the name and check the facilities: a health resort offering treatment should have a medical centre, specialist programs, diagnostics and procedures. A pool, sauna or spa indicates a wellness stay but does not by itself confirm that medical treatment is available.
It is best to consider all three: the distance or shuttle to the beach, a children’s pool or heated water, and a family room with extra beds. For example, Magadan has a private equipped beach, family rooms and children’s areas, while Shirak offers family rooms, a heated pool and a free beach shuttle.
