Choose a hotel in Vladivostok — from view rooms above the Golden Horn and by Sportivnaya Harbor to serviced apartments in residential districts and transit stays near the airport.
It all depends on what the trip is for. For museums, restaurants and the funicular, choose the center — Svetlanskaya, Semyonovskaya or Uborevicha. For views over Amur Bay and sunsets at Tokarevsky Lighthouse, choose Egersheld. In summer, if the beach is the main thing, Sedanka and Shamora work well. With an early or overnight flight, it makes more sense to sleep in Artyom near the terminal. And if you are staying a while and watching the budget, look at Pervaya Rechka and Vtoraya Rechka.
The comfortable season runs from May to October, and September is generally considered the best month: the sea is still warm, the typhoons are over, and the hills turn gold. But September is also the time of the Eastern Economic Forum, when hotels in the center and on Russky Island are taken months in advance. Swimming only makes sense in July and August — the swimming season in Primorye is very short. Booking is easiest in February, November and December.
The range is wide, and it comes down to the type of accommodation and the district. The most affordable options are a hostel bunk or a capsule in the center and the stopover hotels in Artyom. The middle segment covers three-star hotels downtown and apartments — and on Pervaya Rechka and Vtoraya Rechka the same star rating comes noticeably cheaper. At the top end are the four- and five-star hotels on the embankment and by the Golden Horn. July and August and the days of the Forum are the most expensive, winter the cheapest; current figures are shown on the hotel cards.
It is about forty-five kilometers from the VVO terminal to Sportivnaya Embankment. The most predictable option is the airport express to the railway station: it takes roughly an hour and does not depend on traffic. A taxi takes about as long at a quiet time, but the journey stretches out considerably during the morning rush. If your flight is early or overnight, it is easier not to go into the city at all and to stay in Artyom instead.
