The resort runs year-round: the pump rooms, the drinking gallery and the balneological clinic are open all the time. The peak falls between May and October, when Kurortny Park is pleasant for walks between treatments. Rooms are noticeably cheaper in the shoulder season, and in winter, with average temperatures around −4 °C, doctors consider it a particularly good time for a course — without the summer heat and the crowds.

A standard course of drinking-water treatment runs from 14 to 21 days: over a shorter stay the mineral water doesn't have time to produce the intended effect. That's why people booking a course usually take a sanatorium package or a flat with a kitchen rather than a hotel for a couple of nights. For an introductory visit with a water tasting and one or two treatments, three or four nights near Kurortny Park are enough.

The range is wide: from simple small hotels and guest rooms on the outskirts to five-star sanatoriums by the Upper Park. The centre, within walking distance of the gallery, and all-inclusive packages with treatments cost the most; the blocks along Pyatigorskaya and flats rented long-term come out noticeably cheaper. The distance is about 40 km along the A-157 Mineralnye Vody — Kislovodsk highway, and a taxi or transfer takes roughly an hour. By public transport you can take a bus or minibus to the Essentuki bus station, or a suburban train to the railway station. Hotels on Pyatigorskaya Street stand right by the highway exit and often offer a transfer of their own.

Essentuki-4 is a medicinal table water and can be drunk without a prescription, though moderation matters. Essentuki-17 is highly mineralised and should be taken only on a specialist's advice, at a dose matched to your diagnosis. Note that individual springs are scattered across the park: most guests drink at the Pyatitysyachnik gallery, where both types are served in one hall — a convenient starting point for a route to any pump room.
