Hotels in Gurzuf

The heart of the village runs along Leningradskaya and Afanasiya Nikitina streets: from here it is a short walk to the Pushkin Embankment, Gurzuf Park and the Chekhov and Pushkin house museums, and the upper-floor balconies look out on Ayu-Dag. This is the area to book if you arrived without a car and want to be down at the sea within minutes. One local quirk is worth knowing: Lazurny Park and the Suuk-Su Palace sit inside the Artek grounds, so you can only see them on a guided tour, and only on weekdays.

Gurzuf is a small village, and properties with an indoor pool, a spa center and a gym can be counted on one hand. Both options stand above the seafront, closer to Lazurny and the Suuk-Su Palace, and they make up for the climb with their own grounds, a restaurant and a shuttle to the beach. It is a sensible choice for the shoulder season, when the sea has already turned cold but you still want to be near the water.

Gurzufskoye Highway is the upper part of the village, with access to the Simferopol–Yalta road. Rooms here are noticeably cheaper than in the center and usually more spacious, but every trip to the beach turns into a walk down and a climb back up: about twenty minutes on foot in the heat, quicker by car or bus. It is the option for travelers who drove here and plan to explore the whole South Coast rather than settle on a single beach.

Utyos is a quiet village ten kilometers northeast of Gurzuf that grew up around the former estate of Princess Gagarina, with its park and compact beach. The guest houses here stand almost at the water, some of them on the very first line, and they keep the unhurried family rhythm that Gurzuf loses at the height of the season. It suits travelers who come for the sea and the park rather than for a promenade with cafes and evening crowds.

If a guest house is not enough, Utyos also has a step up — with a pool, a sauna, a restaurant and landscaped grounds. The range of accommodation in the village is the widest anywhere along this stretch of coast: very simple rooms sit next door to full-service hotels. Places like these pay off on a family trip, when you want something to do during the day without leaving the gate.

Farther along the coast the same stretch of Crimea's South Coast continues: Partenit beneath Ayu-Dag, the tiny settlement of Chaika between Utyos and Alushta, and Alushta's own city seafront. The difference is simple — Alushta has the promenade, the cafes and city entertainment, while Partenit and Chaika have the sea, the greenery and the quiet. It is 10–25 kilometers from Gurzuf along the highway, and the transport from Simferopol serves all of them, so you can choose by atmosphere rather than by logistics.
