Book a hotel in Yaroslavl

The first thing most guests think about when picking a place to stay is the distance to the historic center. Most of the good hotels sit within 1.5 km of the Strelka and the embankments. Across the Kotorosl and in the southern districts prices are roughly half as high, but you'll spend more time and more on taxis getting around.

The center in the bend of the Volga and the Kotorosl

The UNESCO-listed historic core sits between the two rivers: this is where you'll find the Volga and Kotorosl embankments along with Pervomayskaya, Sverdlova, and Pushkina streets. The main sights are a 10–15-minute walk away.

Across the Kotorosl and Moskovsky Avenue

The district on the left bank of the Kotorosl is quieter than the center. It's a good fit for travelers arriving by car. From here you can reach the Strelka in 15–20 minutes on foot across the bridge, or in one or two bus stops.

The most budget-friendly hotel in the city is the 2-star Skazka. It stands 7.7 km from the Strelka and costs 2,500 ₽. This option fits travelers on a tight budget or those who prefer to get around in their own car.

Among the other Golden Ring towns, Yaroslavl stands out for the kind of immersive historic stay it offers. There are small hotels housed in old merchant and tenement mansions. Each one comes with themed interiors, an intimate atmosphere, and a location right in the historic center.

Within 80–150 km of Yaroslavl you'll find a string of worthwhile towns: Rostov Veliky, Uglich, Tutaev, Kostroma, and Pereslavl-Zalessky.

The Lastochka train from Moscow's Yaroslavsky Station to Yaroslavl-Glavny takes about 3 hours. From there you can reach the neighboring towns by suburban train, tour bus, or your own car.

A convenient setup is to stay in a single hotel in Yaroslavl and run day trips out to the surrounding towns.

In that case it's better to pick a hotel near the railway station or by the Znamenskaya Tower: from there it's an easy ride to the bus station and onto the M8 highway.
