With children, or simply for quiet, look at the southern side of the bay: a pine park, villas, views over the bay. If budget matters more than the distance to the beach, Tonkiy Cape and the surrounding villages will do — the promenade takes longer to reach, but it is calmer and cheaper.

The peak falls in July and August: rates are at their highest, free rooms are few, and you need to start looking well ahead. It is noticeably calmer and cheaper in the velvet season — in September and the first half of October the sea holds at around +22–24 °C, and hotels in the center offer more affordable terms. In winter only part of the city works: year-round complexes with a pool and spa, plus the sanatoriums.

The range is wide: at one end, rooms in guest houses on the outskirts and in the villages; at the other, family complexes and grand hotels with their own grounds, a spa and access to the sea. Season affects the price most: in July and August the same room costs noticeably more than in the velvet season or the off-season. If the budget allows, take the large family complexes on the southern side of the bay — they have children's facilities, pools and extensive grounds. On a more modest budget, the villages with sand-and-pebble beaches are easier: Kabardinka or Divnomorskoye. In the city itself, the beach by the central promenade works well with children: a gentle entry into the water, with water parks operating nearby.
