People come here to stay right by the water without paying extra for the facilities of the big complexes — breakfasts are usually home-cooked and the owners live next door. Getting to the Olympic Park from here is easier by car than on foot, but the beach begins just outside the gate.
Aparthotels and apartments with a kitchen come into their own on a one- or two-week trip with children: you can cook for yourselves instead of working around a restaurant's schedule. Such addresses cluster closer to the Adler border — on Kirova and the streets around it — and in the blocks near the waterfront, about a twenty-minute unhurried walk from the sea. You usually end up with more space than in a room at a resort complex, though the laundry and the breakfasts are left to you.
The border between Sirius and Adler runs along Prosveshcheniya Street, and for a traveler it is a pure formality: a building with an Adler address can stand across the road from the federal territory, and the walk to the sea from it takes exactly as long. This is dense resort development with spa hotels and its own promenade at the mouth of the Mzymta, and the Olympic Park is ten to fifteen minutes away on foot. A sensible choice if you want resort facilities without the premium for an Olympic address.
Sochi Airport stands a few kilometers from Sirius, and the road up to Krasnaya Polyana starts there as well — which is why people spend the night here before an early flight or before heading into the mountains. Hotels around Lenina and Kostromskaya streets are convenient for exactly that: five minutes to the terminal by car, and the evening can still be spent on the waterfront. The format is built for a short one- or two-night stop rather than a beach holiday.
The Imeretinskaya waterfront is the only part of Sirius with direct access to the beach. Its western end, at the mouth of the Mzymta, is occupied by large resort complexes; the eastern end, by Nizhneimeretinskaya Bay, by simpler guest houses. A more affordable alternative is the quarters of the former Olympic Village: from there it is a ten- to fifteen-minute walk to the water along the promenade.
The federal territory itself is very small, so addresses in neighboring Adler end up in the selection — in practice this is a single resort cluster. The border runs along Prosveshcheniya Street and settles nothing on the ground: go by the distance to the sea and to the Olympic Park rather than by the label in the address, and you can always check that on a map.
