The city part of the resort covers Lenina, Gorkogo, and Oktyabrskaya streets, the promenade with the Rotunda, the central beach, and the Mindalnaya Roshcha water park. From here you can walk to the Nemo dolphinarium and the Aluston fortress. Summer is lively, but cafes, a market, and the bus station are close by — the station runs trolleybuses to Simferopol and Yalta.

The swimming season in Alushta runs from June to September. From July to September, the sea reaches 22–27 °C. The most comfortable month is September. During this period you can swim at times and hike in the mountains. In winter the resort is nearly empty, but the sanatoriums keep working. They offer wellness programs at reduced rates.
