Loo
The seaside village in the Lazarevsky District lies 20 kilometres from central Sochi, wedged between a pebble beach and a wooded ridge. People come here for a quiet family holiday: there is a five-kilometre beach, the year-round AquaLoo water park and the ruins of a 10th–12th-century Byzantine church on the hill above. Thanks to the convenient Lastochka express train, Loo is often chosen as a base for trips along the entire coast.
The Beach, the Water Park and History
The main axis of Loo is the five-kilometre promenade with cafés, rental points and spots for evening walks. On the northern edge of the village stands the AquaLoo sanatorium and resort complex with an indoor year-round water park: you can swim here even in January, when it is cool outside.
History lovers should climb the hill (308 m), where the ruins of a 10th–12th-century church have survived (it was restored in the 14th century and converted into a fortress in the 15th–16th). The platform by the church offers a panoramic view of the bay and the outskirts of Dagomys.

When to Go and Where to Travel
Seasons
- Summer: The beach season starts in late May, with the peak in July and August. During this time the air warms up to +28 °C and the water to +27 °C.
- Velvet season: September is still warm (+25 °C), but there are fewer holidaymakers and accommodation prices drop noticeably.
- Winter: The weather is mild (+9…+10 °C) and snow is rare. This is a great time to visit indoor water parks or take a trip into the mountains.
Travel Destinations
The village is an excellent base for radial trips along the coast. Thanks to the Lastochka train, you can easily reach the main destinations:
- Sochi: 25–30 minutes.
- Adler: about an hour.
- Krasnaya Polyana: about two hours (with a transfer).
Buses run to neighbouring Dagomys (12 km) and Vardane (6 km) along the A-147 highway. You can easily combine a beach holiday with excursions: in a single day it is realistic to visit the Matsesta tea plantations, the Agura Gorge or the Olympic Park and return by evening.

The beach season lasts from June to September. In June the temperature is at its most comfortable; July and August bring the peak of the season, with daytime highs of +27–28 °C. In September temperatures stay around 25 °C and prices are lower than in the summer months.
The fastest way is by Lastochka express train from Sochi railway station; the ride to Loo station takes 25–30 minutes. By bus or taxi along the A-147 highway the trip takes 30–50 minutes (travel time depends on traffic).
Yes, AquaLoo is an indoor water park and operates year-round. In winter this is the main reason to come here with children: outside it is around +10 °C, while the water in the park feels like summer.
Loo has several interesting places. You can:

- walk to the Paradise Delight waterfall — it lies about 7 km from the village, in the Verkhnearmyanskoye Loo area;
